Synopsis:
During the Battle of Britain in 1940 the people of Great Britain realized they were fighting a war that the Allies possibly may not win. Attrition rates in the three services were exceptionally high, a dire warning the British were staring defeat in the face. The timeline was 10 July – 31 October 1940.
During this timeline in History, anything could happen, and it did. The impossible became possible.
The German Juggernaut was poised on the French side of the Channel ready to strike the final blow. Seemingly England was on its knees, about to hand over control of its destiny. This was an ultimate consequence hiding in the shadows of defeat.
The RAF fought valiantly in the skies over England despite a shortage of men and women. Aircrews and Ground crews were desperate for more aircraft and trained recruits to fly them. The life expectancy of a Spitfire pilot during the Battle of Britain was four weeks.
Forty six percent of Bomber Crews were killed during the war. Their average age at time of death was twenty three years old.
Equipment, fuel and food shortages were paramount in the three services.
The fearful thought amongst the brave ‘Few’ in a time of desperation was – ‘If we lose the Battle of Britain. We will lose England.’
This powerful Historical Fiction narrative provides a glimpse into the lives of desperate people in desperate times not experienced in recent history.
Service personnel have virtually nothing else to give – only their lives.
The recently formed RAF ‘Black Crow’ night fighter squadron were one of the remaining few with their backs to the wall, ready to fight to the end.
